Characteristics of Fedicolor's coating
Fedicolor carries out the coating of aluminium through electrostatic spraying of polyester powder followed by a baking in the oven .

• Preliminary treatment
  The preliminary treatment protects the aluminium against corrosion and favours the adhesion of the
  paint. The process chosen by Fedicolor as preliminary treatment of the aluminium before painting is
  called "yellow chromating" which meets the instructions contained in the standard DIN 50939
  In Fedicolor, the preliminary treatment takes place out of the actual coating line; it is carried out
  through immersion of the parts in different bathes rather than by spraying.
  Advantages :
     - better control over the different operations
     - possibility to adapt or correct one of the operations according to the part
     - the inside of the tubes are also treated

• Checking
  The chemical quality of the bathes and the thickness of the chromating coat are checked every day.

• Powdering
  The installation is equipped with a double line "power and free"; the second one stops to allow the
  unhooking of the parts, for the baking and the packaging. So that to ease the changes of shades, the
  installation includes two automatic rooms, each one being equipped with two robots and seven spray
  guns. While the first room is busy, the second one is prepared for the next shade. A third room, also
  equipped with two robots and for spray guns, is intended for small batches.

• Baking
  Polymerisation at 180° for 20 minutes. The accumulation oven (parts stop) enables a longer bking time
  and thus prevents too high temperatures.

• Quality
  Our laboratory checks everyday the quality of finished products according to the stric regulations of
  Qualicoat.

Reproducibility of RAL Shades : remarks

• Variations of shades
  In order to meet European standards, powder manufacturer have to replace the polyester hardener
  (TGIC) and some lead-based pigments by other non-toxic products. In spite of the care to come as near
  as possible of the RAL shades, variations could be visible to the naked eye for some shades. We
  thusdraw your attention on the possible risk if you enlarge your order or if you mix lacquered parts at
  different moment or by different coating companies.
  In this case, please indicate on your order form the references indicated on our invoices.

        F01/0001 number of the realisation sheet

• RAL 9010 B
  We also remind you that the standard white which we use 9010'a3 (Belgian) ist nor an actual RAL 9010.
  The same applies for the RAL 8019, 9006 and 9007 which are not true RAL.

• Metallic shades
  For metallic shades we cannot guarantee a perfect homogeneity of the shade ( FLOP-effect) because
  of the metallic pigments.

  We have no resort, neither has the final consumer, towards the manufacturer insofar as the products
  which are used comply with the Qualicoat regulations (N° lic. 212).
